About the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon
Founded in 1988, the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon (YSSO) organization offers training and performance opportunities to young musicians and presents high-quality performances in professional venues and community settings for the public. The organization celebrated its Silver Jubilee Concert Season in 2012-2013.
The YSSO organization includes three orchestras, Youth Symphony (advanced), Youth Orchestra (intermediate), and Youth Strings (entry-level), offering a range of performance levels for accomplished and aspiring orchestral musicians.
The Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon is nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization guided by a volunteer governing board. The professional staff includes a music director & conductor, an associate conductor, an executive director, an orchestra manager, orchestra assistant and an executive assistant. Volunteers assist with activities, special events, rehearsals, concerts and initiatives.
